Alex's Lemonade Stand

About Alex
Alexandra "Alex" Scott was born to Jay and Liz Scott in Manchester, Connecticut on January 18, 1996, the second of four children.Shortly before her first birthday, Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. On her first birthday, the doctors informed Alex's parents that if she beat her cancer it was doubtful that she would ever walk again. Just two weeks later, Alex slightly moved her leg at her parents' request to kick, the first indication of who she would turn out to be-a determined, courageous, confident and inspiring child with big dreams and big accomplishments.
While bravely battling her own cancer, Alex continued to hold yearly lemonade stands in her front yard to benefit childhood cancer research. News spread of the remarkable sick child dedicated to helping other sick children. People from all over the world, moved by her story, held their own lemonade stands and donated the proceeds to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.
In August of 2004, Alex passed away at the age of 8, knowing that, with the help of others, she had raised over $1 million to help find a cure for the disease that took her life.

Alex's Lemonade Stand
Alex's Lemonade Stand provides a meaningful, fun, and safe way to make a difference in the lives of others. As Alex once said, "holding your own Alex's Lemonade Stand is easy and fun!" It is also an inspiring way for caring people of all ages to support a cause dedicated to helping children everywhere.

Fighting Childhood Cancer, One Cup at A Time
They are unique in our approach to funding childhood cancer research -- they work directly with doctors, researchers, and nurses to identify the specific challenges they face in bringing new treatments to children with cancer.
Grants distributed from Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation are designed to fill the critical gaps in funding as identified by doctors and researchers across the country. Careful distribution of their grants has allowed doctors and nurses to bring the latest and most promising life saving treatments to seriously ill children.
The result -- bringing hope to childhood cancer patients now and in the future. Alex's simple belief that she could make a difference with lemonade has surely paid off for children with cancer and their families.
